“Anatomy of a Cd” Stage 2 – Tracking

Stage 2 – Tracking

Tracking is the next stage of the Cd recording process.  It is where all the musicians get together in the studio to create the instrumentation.  Basically the foundation of the songs.  It usually takes two days to record 10 songs.  This includes piano, drums, bass guitar, acoustic guitar, electric guitar, and then there is what we would call color instruments(dobro, fiddle, steel guitar, cello, etc.).  After the basic tracks are completed we will send a few songs out for orchestration to be added.

We are now finished with our tracking and excited to say it went amazing.  We have some of the best musicians in the industry (Jeff Collins-Piano and Keyboards, David Johnson-Acoustic Guitar, Dobro, Steel Guitar, Fiddle, Jeremy Medkiff-Bass, Electric Guitar and on Drums and Percussion is Tony Creasman.

There is also one very important person that I don’t want to leave out, Van Atkins(The Engineer). He sits behind the mixing board during the entire process. You will hear his named mentioned through each stage.  We are very thankful for Van.

Stay tuned for our next post Stage 3 – Vocals

“Anatomy of a Cd” Stage 1 – Song Selection

We are so excited to finally have begun our new Cd. There are many who have shown interest in the process of making a Cd and so we would like to invite you to join us on this journey. We will be posting a series entitled “Anatomy of a Cd”. Each post will contain a stage of the process.

Stage 1 – Song Selection/Songwriting

This is probably one of the most tedious, time consuming and important parts of making a Cd. Rich spends more time on this process than anyone. On this project it took listening to 100′s of songs to find 10. There are times when you put in 50 songs in a row and feel as if you will never find anything. Then all of a sudden a song starts playing that grabs your heart and you know that you’ve found something special. That happened over and over again for this recording. We are thankful to have songs on this project from amazing songwriters such as Kenna Turner West, Tony Wood, John Lemonis, Rebecca Peck and more…

We are finished with Stage I and so excited about the songs that God has lead us to. Be looking for our next post on Stage 2 – Tracking (will will be including photos/video).

FEBRUARY TOUR: DAY 25- Phenix City, AL (Last Day Of Tour)

And here we are… The last tour date of our West to East February Tour. We have been on the road for 25 days straight and have sang for 21 days. Needless to say, we are tired and ready to be home, but we go home victorious knowing that this morning we saw one more soul come to Christ and countless others touched on this entire trip. We have been so blessed and thankful that God has kept His hand on us this entire trip. He has kept us safe, and the tour has went so smooth. The weather was nice, the fellowship was awesome, and we got to see a lot of family and make some great friends along the way. Thank you to EVERYONE who has kept up with us and those who have supported us through this entire endeavor. We can’t do what we do without God’s people praying for us and supporting us, and we want you to know how deeply we appreciate it.

This morning, we sang in Phenix City, Alabama at River Of Life church. The highlight might be when Luke sang. He had quite the crowd of female fans in the front row, all a little timid to talk to him after the service. Ha! As we said, we saw another person come to Christ, and the moment was so precious, as it always is. We are now riding the bus home with a pit stop in Nashville to drop off Micah and Jackie, then to Knoxville. We will have 3 days of rest, laundry, and catching up with things at home, and then we’ll be gone again! Greater things are still to be done! Thank you for following us! We love you…
